As well as cross curriculum learning we believe in using Dance and the Arts to make the world a better place which is why we are linking up with some amazing partners to deliver to Primary Schools, and venues working with children and families, fun and informative workshops that explore, educate and enable everyone to make a difference!
Some things make us feel MAD about the world but instead of just feeling mad we want to turn this feeling into action. We want to support others to Make A Difference!
Therefore we have created fun, creative and engaging ways to support teachers and schools to educate and explore the topics of sustainability.
This year we have teamed up with Final Straw Foundation to further develop our Plastic Pollution Workshops which have been developed after the success of our Doodle Dance Festival in 2019.
Our workshop for year R, 1, 2, 3 and 4 explore Land, Sea and Sky and the impact that plastic has on our loved wildlife. Children will explore these landscapes and the animals within it, and then explore their own ‘plastic’ and leave the workshop enthused to make a difference. The final Straw has created a linked activity that teachers can continue in the classroom.
Our workshop for year 5 and 6 explores creating ‘plastic creatures’ which take over our treasured spaces and places and what we must do to defend these.
Both workshops are taught through exploration, improvisation, collaboration and discovery enabling all abilities to ‘Make their Mark!’
The workshop covers PE and Environmental Education as well as supporting emotional, social development. The workshop is delivered in a fully accessible way.
Workshops are 45mins-1hr long and take place in school hall led by Doodle Dance Artist accompanied by class teacher. Follow up activity is done back in the classroom under the teachers supervision.
Doodle Dance takes minimum of 2 workshops booked on a morning or afternoon and maximum of 4 workshops over a day. Workshops are £50-100 inclusive of liaison, insurance, planning, resources and delivery dependent on location, number of bookings and class size. The fee also includes a small carbon offset to support us to grow our Make Your Mark Forest with Ecoligi.
Doodle Dance is developing further MAD workshops (Bees, Trees, Helping Hands Kindness workshops) which will be launched later in the year and currently offers cross curriculum delivery which is available to all year groups, info on our website.
