Discovery Session

Curriculum Ignition

Spark children’s creative curiosity towards a terms topic!

The creative dance workshop aims to ignite their learning at the beginning or celebrate learning at the end of term. Or if children are in need of some midterm motivation then workshops can be used to encourage and maintain focus.

The lesson covers PE whilst developing understanding for the topic ahead. Lessons can continue for the whole half/term allowing full cross curriculum delivery through your PE time and budget (2 lessons in one!) Teachers can experience CPD and take ideas back to class.

30-1hr workshops can be designed on any topic and bookings are based on a minimum of 2 workshops in one morning or afternoon session.

Workshops cost £50-100 dependent on timings, location and number of bookings. Discount will be given to ‘priority schools’. For more information on priority school status contact doodledancejo@gmail.com

MAD: Make a Difference Workshops! (can be used to support Eco Award)

Doodle Dance has been feeling slightly MAD about some of the issues in our world and decided to turn this feeling into ACTION!

We believe in using Dance and the Arts to make the world a better place which is why we are linking up with some amazing partners to deliver to Primary Schools, and venues working with children and families, fun and informative workshops that explore, educate and enable everyone to make a difference!

This year we have linked up with The Final Straw Foundation to develop our Plastic Reduction Workshop and are in the process of developing further MAD workshops to look at ways of supporting our Bees and Trees and developing Kindness through our Helping Hands Workshops.

Discovery Series

On Your Marks! Reception Year

Build skill and confidence in mark making and expressive languages through a 10 week discovery series of creative dance, movement and play. Discovery, playfulness and exploration will lead children through activities that will engage and ignite their desire to ‘Make their Mark!’.

The sessions are designed on the anatomical and developmental journey of mark making and the supportive structure includes repeated activities and new provocations which support in developing gross and fine motor ability including directional movement, strength, grip whilst working individually and in groups.

The Dance Artist will bring in props, sensory resources, word bank focus and theme to engage and enthuse children in finding their own expressive language whilst experiencing movement that support their developmental journey as well as their well being, social and emotional development.

The delivering artist encourages a dialogue between the accompanying teacher allowing sessions to support CPD in learning more on the journey of mark making, and movement development as well as continuation of activity back in the classroom. Further CPD can be designed as an additional cost. Whole school inset can also be created to support movement needs further up the school.

The 10 sessions can be offered as pre designed or alternatively it can be designed around individual school topics.

‘Dancing in the Rain’

“The child stood under the cloud and sighed….if they were going to have this cloud here everyday not knowing what it would rain, then they would need to learn how to dance in the rain!”

In response to the pandemic the 10 week project has been designed after a period of research into emotional intelligence, anxiety reduction and mindset. With support from Well Within Reach, Doodle Dance has created a series of workshops that support children in their emotional well being whilst enabling creative dance movement and art that can be used as part of the PE curriculum.

Children will develop emotional vocabulary and expression, understanding of the impact of negative emotions on the brain and the body, and explore a number of ways of recognising, releasing and supporting their own and others emotional journey.

The discovery sessions allow for techniques of grounding, mindful movement, creative dance, writing, drawing and doodling and individual and group work all working with ownership and the UNIQUE child being at the centre.

Artists liaise with teachers to support safeguarding and lessons are designed to be fully inclusive.
